How this site works
We are an independent price tracker for what travellers buy in South Korea. Every figure on this site is an observation with a date attached, not an estimate: as of 2026-08-04 we collect 9 exchange rates, 19 eSIM plans and 647 air fares across 9 departure airports once a day. Where we cannot verify something we say so rather than filling the gap, and where a comparison cannot be made on equal terms we leave it out rather than approximating it.
Where the numbers come from
Provider feeds and published fare tables, collected once a day and stored with the date we saw them. Nothing is typed in by hand, because hand-entry is where our worst error came from — we once read a provider's own page twice, agreed with ourselves both times, and still missed eleven of nineteen plans. The page then claimed the cheapest Korea eSIM was $12 when it was $4. Two readings that miss the same thing do not check each other.
- Exchange rates
- 9 currencies against the won, once a day. Everything shown in your own currency derives from this one snapshot, which is why the observation date sits next to it.
- eSIM plans
- The provider's own machine-readable product feed, so a plan we do not list is a plan the provider is not publishing.
- Air fares
- Cheapest observed one-way fares to Incheon by departure date. These are cached observations, not live quotes — every row carries the date the fare was found, and that date can be a week old. We say this on the page rather than letting a stale number look current.
- Fares you can edit
- Transit and airport fares are seeded from published tariffs and left editable, because the number you actually see at the counter is better evidence than ours. Anything we have not personally checked is labelled as an unverified seed value.
What we do when we are unsure
We say so. A figure we could not verify is labelled, and a comparison we cannot make on equal terms is left out rather than estimated. That rule only means something if it costs us something, so here is what it has actually cost:
- A second eSIM seller we could not keep current. We added one, then removed it. Its listed price was a per-day or “from” figure rather than a plan total, and we had no way to collect it daily — so putting it beside a plan total would have made it look eight times cheaper than it was.
- Hotels, entirely. We can get affiliate links for accommodation but not prices we can collect and re-check. A page of hotel links with no price history would be a directory pretending to be a comparison, so there is no hotel page.
- A route we could not price. The airport tool suggests a pre-booked transfer when the table genuinely cannot answer — late at night, or for a group too big for one taxi — but it does not put a price on it, because transfer pricing depends on vehicle and date and we cannot read it once a day.
- Averages from thin samples. Where we have fewer than five observed dates in a month, the flight tool says the sample is too thin instead of averaging two numbers and calling it a trend.
We also do not claim first-hand experience we cannot evidence. You will not read “we tried this ourselves” here. Our authority is the collection record, not anecdote.
How we are paid
Some outbound links are affiliate links and earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. They never change which option a tool says is cheapest — rankings are computed from the collected prices before any link is attached, and a tool will tell you that buying nothing is the right answer when that is what the numbers say.
Every affiliate link is disclosed on the page that carries it, marked rel="sponsored", and routed through our own domain so we can measure which pages earn. We currently have 8 active partner links. Where we have no partnership for a category we say that too, rather than linking somewhere unrelated to fill the space.
When we get it wrong
Collected data can be wrong, and stale data is worse than missing data. If a figure here does not match what you are shown at the point of purchase, that is worth telling us — write to privacy@travel-and-trip.com. A price that disagrees with ours is the most useful thing you can send.
