Privacy
We do not store IP addresses, we set no cookies of our own, and we run no analytics scripts. Two things are recorded: an anonymous row when you click an affiliate link, and your email address if you subscribe. Both are described in full below, and you can have either removed by writing to privacy@travel-and-trip.com.
When you click an affiliate link
Affiliate links pass through our own redirect so we can tell which page earned a commission. Without that we would have no way to know which of our pages are worth keeping. Each click writes one row containing:
- the time, and which link you clicked
- which page and language sent you, and whether you arrived from search, an AI assistant, a newsletter, a video or a link
- your country code only, as supplied by our host — not your IP address, which we never write down
- the hostname of the page you came from — not the full address, which can contain personal information
- a one-way hash of your browser's user-agent string, used to spot repeated automated requests. It cannot be turned back into the original string
There is no identifier in that row that links it to you or to any other row. We keep it for 24 months, which covers the period during which an affiliate network may still confirm or reverse a commission.
When you follow the link out
The merchant and its affiliate network will set their own cookies and apply their own privacy policies, which we do not control. That is how the commission is attributed. We deliberately do not pass on the address of the page you were reading.
If you subscribe
We store what you give us, and nothing more:
- your email address
- your language, and which page you subscribed from
- optionally, your currency — used only to tell you when the won moves against it
- optionally, your travel date — used only to send a reminder before you go
- your time zone, read from your browser, so we do not send email in the middle of your night
- the date and time you consented, which is our record that you asked for this
We use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click a confirmation link. Until then your address sits unconfirmed and receives no email at all. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link that needs no login.
We keep subscriber data until you unsubscribe. After you unsubscribe we keep the record of your original consent for 3 years after you unsubscribe, because we may need to show that we had permission to write to you. Ask us and we will delete that too.
Who else processes this
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the database, and supplies the country code described above
- Affiliate networks receive your click, as described above
- An email provider will deliver subscriber email. None is connected yet, so no email is being sent
We do not sell data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not build profiles.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK or another jurisdiction with comparable rules, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Write to privacy@travel-and-trip.com and we will act within one month. Unsubscribing is immediate and needs no request.
For clicks there is normally nothing to retrieve, because those rows contain no identifier that could be matched to you. That is deliberate.
Changes
If we start collecting something new, this page changes in the same commit as the code that collects it. It is not a document we update afterwards.
